Dearest Nerds.

My dearest Nerds,

I am having difficulty posting as of late, as I simply do not have the time. (Or an interesting life...)
However, I will continue to post things of interest, that is, if anyone actually reads my blog...

I leave you with this.
My science teacher put too much potassium in water the other day and kind of set off the fire alarm. My apologies to all six hundred students who had to stand outside in the rain.

Remember.

Hey there.

As most of you, if not all of you will know, Today is the Anniversary of 9/11. I have a short message for you.

It's been 10 years. For them. For their families.
10 years ago, two towers went down. In those towers were Mothers, Fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends.
Have a moment of silence. Honour their memories. Think of their families. Talk about the tradegdy that was and is 9/11. Draw a picture. Sing a song. Write a poem. Do what you can, what feels right for you. They seserve to be remembered. Their families remember them everyday. We can remember them too. Have a moment of silence. Think of them. Never forget.

And in this moment we can't
Close the lids
On burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with
Friends we know
Like fallout vapors
Steel corpses stretch out towards an
Ending sun
Scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your
Flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart

That's if you've still got one that's left
Inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw
Can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now.

Haaaayyy!
I've been having some interesting thoughts about religion lately. I go to a VERY catholic school, so we learn a lot about Jesus, and the new testament. We do get to study Islam, which I find interesting. But I've been reading about Buddism outside school, and I think it's incredible. The idea of tranquility and peace is really inspiring. I have decided to follow the buddist way of life, even if I can't become a full buddist. Did you know that there have never been any wars fought in the name of buddism? How amazing is that?
I know buddism makes people think of 'awwmmm'noises and sitting cross-legged, but really meditating can just be going to a special place in your mind, or even in real life. Do you have a favourite spot? Sit there, and just think. Let your mind wander to the farthest reaches of the world. This is an excellent thing to do. My friend Caoimhe (@theotherothergirl on Twitter) is rather fond of walking meditiation, as she has named it it. It is when you simply walk. Think and walk. Walk and think. Find out where you going when you get there. A lot of this has sprung from a wonderful book called 'My name is Mina' which is the most inspiring book I have ever read. Mina is...just...Mina. There are no adjectives for her.

I have homework to do, but keep thinking!

A dictionary for the dictionary?

Hello.
Yes, I haven't blogged in a while. I was sick! Tonsilitis. Again. GRRR. I'm sorry, okay? Plus I've been back at school, and it took ages, and it's just too much hassle. I do go to school, you know. And this will only be a short post because I'm tired. And feeling defensive, for some reason.
Thought for today: Who writes the dictionary? And do they use a dictionary to write the definitionsfor their dictionary? What about the very first dictionary? Food for thought.

Bye!

A ramble of epic proportions.

Hello again. I still don't know your name. How rude of me. Oh well.

Every so often, I write a paragraph. It doesn't relate to anything, but it is a product of my rambling imagination, so I thought I'd post them here. Here's one I thought of today:

Isn't it amazing how markings on a page can make you laugh, or cry, or rethink your view of everything. How a series of sounds coming from someones mouth can make you fall in love? How they can hurt you, and make you feel worthless, and then build back up again? The human race has evolved so much. Take the last century:
The first Nobel prize is awarded. Einsteins theory of relativity. The lie detector is invented. A woman swims the English Channel.  Nylons, the t-shirt and the bikini are invented. The first computer. Matin Luther King makes the famouse 'I have a dream' speech. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldren walk on the moon. The Hubble Telescope is launched. Sceintists clone a sheep.

The human race are incredible. We are so persistent. Ambition. Pride. Strength. Cleverness. All things we possess. The ability to cure and heal is amazing. So is our ability to deduct. And our ability to look into the stars and find answers. DNA. All incredible, fantastic things.

It's a schoolnight, so I have to go to bed soon enough and prepeare myself to learn about the properties of carbon dioxide. Night!

To sleep, or not to sleep?

Hello again...You...I don't know your name, so I therefore cannot make a personal greeting specialised for you. Anyways, it's quite difficult to post every day, but it is my not-new-years resolution, so I'm gonna have to get used to it.

Staying at a friends house today. To sleep or not to sleep? That is the question in question. Hmm, on one hand, I will be positively wrecked tomorrow morning, but on the other hand,  I don't particularly want to sleep. Oh well. I'll figure it out later. That's a problem for future Ella, as my brother would say.

I am currently watching Sherlock, after a marathon of The Big Bang Theory,  which is the best nerdy tv show EVER. If, you please. Sherlock is brilliant. It's just brilliant. I can't even tell you how good it is. It's just SO good.

I don't really have much to say today, sorry guys!

Goodnight!

Definition of a 'real' fan?

Hello again. Hmm. So today a person I know said that you can't be a real fan unless you own of of the band's physical CDs. I disagree with this. Fan is an abbrieviation of 'fanatic'. Someone who admires the band/artist in question. I think a so called 'real fan' is someone who admires the band/artist and appreciates their music. Profits shouldn't be a bands main concern. Their main concern should be making music that means something to them. The band in question was My Chemical Romance, and they are in fact, my favourite band. I hate it when people say they're a 'better' fan than you because they've been to 20 concerts and spent a load of money on merch, and bought all the CDs and boxsets.

This situation doesn't always aply to bands and artists either. It can apply to 'cliques' who wear designer clothes and spend €300 on a Juicy Handbag without blinking an eye. I do actually know kind, considerate people who just happen to be well off, but don't feel the need to shun you if you can't afford that over-priced Pauls Boutique jacket. (Sidenote, I don't actually like Pauls Boutique or Juicy. I could used any designer brand, but these were the first that came to mind).

To all of these people, let me ask you this: Have you ever considered those worse off then you? The people who feel alone, and rejected because they don't have a lot of money to spend on designer clothes? Or maybe you enjoy whispering about them behind their backs? Or maybe even to their faces? Well, I can tell you something right now. Whether or not the outfit you're wearing is worth hundreds, if you shun other people because they couldn't afford the same things, then you're worthless. Get over yourself, and maybe you'll be worth something to society. I'm fortunate enough to be reasonably well off, but a lot of my clothes come from Penneys, and I have some Dunnes stuff as well. I do have some expensive things too, but they don't make up my entire wardrobe. I have a sewing machine, and I'm trying to get into making my own clothes.

Jeez, guys, Sorry. I got into a real rant there. I suppose it was a bit rambly though, so you did get what you came for! Bye for now, I'll talk to you again soon,

Is your nerdiness scaring you? Call 1800 B-I-N-A-R-Y

Came to a realisation today. My own nerdiness scares me. I was watching The Big Bang Theory, (Brilliantly nerdy television series) When on the show, one of the charachters (Leonard, if you watch it) was nervous about making a presentation, and a friend suggest he make a joke to lighten the mood a bit. So Leonard thinks that's a great idea, and says;
"I have a joke, actually! So, this farmer breeds chickens, but they won't lay any eggs, and he brings in a physicist to figure out what's wrong with them. The physicist works for a while and then says: I have a solution, but it only works for-"
At which point I blurt out; "SPHERICAL CHICKENS IN A VACCUM" because I had told that joke two weeks previously. That's scary. I'm thirteen, if I didn't already tell you. Makes it scarier, doesn't it. I could also give you a brief history of the universe in song, If you like. No? Maybe later.
Well, that's the end of my nerdy ramblings for today.

New Beginnings

Right, this is my new diary. Well. My new online diary. Well. My new online diary open to the public. Well.
(I warned you, it is the ramblings of a teenage girl!) So, my not-New-Years-resolution-because-it's-not-New-Years is this. I am going to keep this blog. It is going to be part of my daily routine and I shall enjoy it. (I hope) Yeah, this is going to be fun.
Oh, how rude of me! I'm Ella. Welcome to my daily life. Are you having fun yet? No? Well, wait until I get into another accident. I'm pretty accident prone. And they all involve stairs...hmm. That probably means something. I have a pretty bad attention span sometimes, but not all the-oooh! Shiny! What was I saying again? Oh yeah, apparently my pain is funny to other people. Go figure.
Oh! Something interesting! I am the first and only person to be carried out of my school during an evacuation ,(it was a fire drill, if you're wondering) Yeah, I fell down some stairs and sprained my ankle. My science teacher and my geography teacher had to carry me out. Awkies. Hmm. What was that I said about all my accidents invloving stairs? Never mind, I'll see you next time, (well, I won't see you. You'll be at a computer. Go outside! Breathe in the fresh air! Dammit, I'm rambling again. Well. That's what the blog is for. Hopefully)
